​... passenger traffic at the MIA increased by 10.5% compared to 2015.
... UK and Italy remain the two most popular destinations in terms of total passengers movement, but the increases in passengers movement over 2015 were 5.4% and 15.1% respectively.

Sea Transport

In 2016 ...

... the stock of vessels registered under the Maltese flag increased by 2.7%.
... 62.0% (486) of the total newly registered vessels were pleasure yachts.​
​​... (cruise liners) embarkations from Malta and landings in Malta decreased by 19.9% and 17.3% respectively over 2015​.
... increases of 8.2% and 8.3% were registered in the number of vehicles and passengers respectively that crossed between Malta and Gozo.

Road Transport

In 2016 ...

... ​​the number of reported traffic accidents decreased by 3.1% over 2015, with 38.1% of these accidents recorded in the Northern Harbour.​
... traffic casualties increased by 8.2% over 2015.
... injuries sustained by 11 drivers, 3 passengers, 8 pedestrians and 1 cyclist proved fatal.
... the stock of licensed motor vehicles increased at an average net rate of 33 vehicles per day.
