  • Fl-aħħar taʼ Marzu 2025, in-nefqa fuq il-Benefiċċji Kontributorji laħqet it-€355.3 miljun, li hija żieda taʼ 12.0 fil-mija fuq l-2024.
  • Fost il-kategoriji Kontributorji, il-Pensjonijiet tal-Irtirar irreġistraw l-akbar żieda, €27.0 miljun.
  • L-akbar ġemgħa taʼ benefiċjarji Kontributorji kienet irrappurtata fil-Pensjoni taż-Żewġ Terzi (58,616).
  • In-nefqa fuq il-benefiċċji li mhumiex Kontributorji kienet taʼ €86.4 miljun, żieda taʼ 7.1 fil-mija mis-sena taʼ qabel.
  • Bejn Jannar u Marzu 2025, kien hemm 42,787 familja li rċevew l-Allowance tat-Tfal. Barra minn hekk, l-għadd tal-applikanti tal-Għotja għal Ċittadin Anzjan kien taʼ 42,428.

Minn Jannar sa Marzu 2025, in-nefqa tal-Gvern fuq il-benefiċċji tas-Sigurtà Soċjali telgħet bi €43.7 miljun meta mqabbla mal-2024.

In-nefqa tal-Gvern fuq il-benefiċċji tas-Sigurtà Soċjali

Fl-ewwel kwart tal-2025, l-infiq fuq il-benefiċċji tas-Sigurtà Soċjali kien taʼ €441.7 miljun, 11.0 fil-mija aktar mit-€398.0 miljun irreġistrati fl-aħħar taʼ Marzu 2024. Nefqiet ogħla kienu rreġistrati fuq il-Benefiċċji Kontributorji (€38.0 miljun) u fuq il-Benefiċċji Mhux Kontributorji (€5.7 miljuni) (Tabella nru 1).

L-infiq tal-Gvern fuq il-Benefiċċji Kontributorji ammonta għal €355.3 miljun, 12.0 fil-mija aktar mis-sena taʼ qabel. L-aktar li żdiedu kienu l-Pensjonijiet tal-Irtirar, li żdiedu bʼ€27.0 miljun bħala riżultat taż-żieda qawwija taʼ pensjonanti tal-Pensjoni Minima Nazzjonali Miżjuda (1,379). Aktar żidiet kienu rreġistrati fil-Pensjonijiet tar-Romol (€3.7 miljuni), fil-Bonus Kontributorju taʼ Defiċjenza (€3.0 miljuni), fil-Bonus Kontributorju (€3.0 miljuni), fil-Pensjonijiet tal-Invalidità (€1.3 miljun) u Benefiċċji Oħra (€0.1 miljun) (Tabella nru 2).

Fl-ewwel tliet xhur tal-2025, l-infiq fuq il-Benefiċċji Mhux Kontributorji laħaq is-€86.4 miljun, żieda taʼ 7.1 fil-mija meta mqabbel mas-sena taʼ qabel. L-akbar żidiet kienu rreġistrati fl-Allowance tat-Tfal (€4.1 miljuni), l-Għotja għal Ċittadin Anzjan (€1.6 miljun) u l-Allowance/Pensjoni tad-Diżabbiltà (€1.2 miljun). Bʼkuntrast, l-akbar tnaqqis deher fil-Benefiċċju għall-Ogħli tal-Ħajja Addizzjonali (€1.2 miljun) (Tabella nru 3).

Il-benefiċjarji tas-Sigurtà Soċjali

Sal-aħħar taʼ Marzu, il-pensjonanti taż-Żewġ Terzi għoddew 58,616, li jiġu 77 benefiċjarju iżjed mill-istess perjodu fl-2024. Il-Pensjoni Minima Nazzjonali Miżjuda rrapportat l-ogħla żieda fost il-benefiċjarji tal-Benefiċċji Kontributorji (1,379), filwaqt li l-akbar tnaqqis kien irreġistrat fil-Benefiċċju tal-Mard (705) (Tabella nru 2). 

L-ogħla numru ta’ benefiċjarji Mhux Kontributorji kien irrappurtat mill-Allowance tat-Tfal (42,787), 278 aktar mis-sena taʼ qabel. L-akbar żieda, dik taʼ 290 applikant, kienet irrappurtata fis-Suppliment tal-Allowance tat-Tfal. Min-naħa l-oħra, l-akbar tnaqqis fir-riċevituri deher fil-Benefiċċju għall-Ogħli tal-Ħajja Addizzjonali (3,511) (Tabella nru 3).

Methodological Notes

1. Expenditure data provided in this news release is extracted from the administrative records of the Department of Social Security, and is based on the Government’s Consolidated Fund.
 
2. Beneficiaries data is obtained from the Department of Social Security’s Unique Beneficiaries Report.
 
3. In 2022, a complete revamp of the In-Work Benefit (IWB) was carried out by the Income Support and Compliance Division, with payments being made to all eligible parents irrespective of application status. Payments are made in arrears, hence the reporting period for reference year N is being covered by payments made between April of year N to March of year N+1. Due to the differences in reporting methods between the data sources listed in Notes 1 and 2, and to maintain consistency in line with the restructuring performed, from 2023 the Unique Beneficiaries Report has been used to extract both the expenditure and beneficiaries data for the IWB.
 
4. For every benefit, the corresponding beneficiaries reflect any person who has received the benefit at least once during the reference period. The number of beneficiaries may not be aggregated since persons obtaining two or more different benefits during the same period are listed once under each benefit. It should also be noted that the annual number of beneficiaries is not equal to the sum of the quarters since beneficiaries obtaining the same benefit in more than one quarter are only counted once. Furthermore, bonus recipients are not reported separately but captured within relative benefits, reflecting their role as secondary payments made to beneficiaries of Pensions in respect of Retirement and Social Assistance, among others.
 
5. The functions provided in charts 2 and 3 are in line with the European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics (ESSPROS) Manual 2022 Edition (ISBN 978-92-76-58596-1). This methodology is mandatory for all EU Member States. A detailed breakdown of which benefits are classified under each function is provided in the Social Security Benefits Glossary that can be accessed from the ‘Sources and Methods’ link listed in note 8.
 
6. Expenditure data is not normally subject to revision, while beneficiaries data may be revised. As of 2023, latest figures for the IWB are to be taken as provisional and subject to revision.
