Quarterly comparison
After adjusting for seasonal effects and the working-day pattern, the total services turnover index increased by 0.8 per cent between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.
Increases were registered in the wholesale trade (1.7 per cent) and retail trade (0.4 per cent). On the other hand, decreases in turnover were recorded in the real estate activities (19.3 per cent), motor trade (12.3 per cent), administrative and support service activities (5.6 per cent), information and communication (4.7 per cent), transportation and storage (2.7 per cent), professional, scientific and technical activities (2.2 per cent) and accommodation and food service activities (1.1 per cent) (Table 1).
Between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, the number of persons employed (Table 3), the gross wages and salaries (Table 5) and the hours worked (Table 7) increased by 0.9 per cent, 2.6 per cent and 0.9 per cent, respectively.
Annual comparison
During the first quarter of 2025, the total services turnover index registered a decrease of 0.4 per cent on an annual basis after adjusting for the working-day pattern.
The highest decrease was registered in the motor trade (11.9 per cent), followed by declines in the wholesale trade (7.1 per cent), real estate activities (5.4 per cent), administrative and support service activities (5.3 per cent) and professional, scientific and technical activities (1.6 per cent). On the contrary, increases in turnover were recorded in the transportation and storage (7.2 per cent), retail trade (4.1 per cent), accommodation and food service activities (3.8 per cent) and information and communication (2.5 per cent) (Table 2).
When compared to the first quarter of 2024, the indicators for the number of persons employed (Table 4), gross wages and salaries (Table 6) and the hours worked (Table 8) went up by 1.8 per cent, 6.5 per cent and 2.8 per cent, respectively.

- When compared to Q1 2024, working-day adjusted turnover in selected service activities decreased by 0.4 per cent.
