Motor Vehicles: Q2/2026

During the second quarter of 2026, the stock of licensed motor vehicles increased by 3,086 over the previous quarter. The stock of licensed motor vehicles increased at a net average rate of 34 motor vehicles per day.
The majority of newly licensed motor vehicles, 4,206 or 58.1 per cent of the total, were passenger cars, followed by motorcycles/E-bikes/PA-bikes with 2,070 or 28.6 per cent.
Petrol-powered engines accounted for 58.0 per cent of the total, followed by diesel-powered engines (33.5 per cent), and electric-powered engines (3.9 per cent).
Compared to the previous quarter, increases of 9.3 per cent, 6.0 per cent and 5.8 per cent were registered in plug-in hybrid (diesel-electric), mild hybrid (petrol-electric) and plug-in hybrid (petrol-electric) motor vehicles, respectively.

Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP): July 2026

In July 2026, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the HICP was 2.1 per cent, up from 2.0 per cent in June 2026.
The 12-month moving average rate for July stood at 2.3 per cent.
The largest upward contribution to the overall annual inflation rate was measured in the Restaurants and accommodation services Index (+0.49 percentage points), while the largest downward contribution was recorded in the Clothing and footwear Index (-0.15 percentage points).
