Registered Employment: August 2022
Administrative data provided by Jobsplus show that, over a period of one year, the labour supply (excluding part-timers) increased by 6.0 per cent, reaching 256,063 (see methodological note 5). This was mainly attributed to a year-on-year increase in the full-time registered employment (14,956) and a decrease in registered unemployment (520) (Table 1).
Registered full-time employment
During August 2022, accommodation and food services activities (NACE 55-56, 2,650) and administrative and support service activities (NACE 77-82, 2,288) contributed mostly to the increase in employment, when compared to August 2021 (Table 1). Registered full-time employment in the private sector went up by 14,765 persons to 203,756. Public sector full-time employment increased by 191 persons to 51,385 (Table 2).
The number of persons registered as full-time self-employed rose by 609 when compared to August 2021, while the number of persons registered as employees increased by 14,347. Full-time employment for males and females went up by 6.3 per cent and 6.1 per cent, respectively over 2021 levels (Table 2).
Registered part-time employment
Registered part-time employment in August 2022 increased by 8.5 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2021. The sectors that contributed to the overall increase were professional, scientific and technical activities (NACE 69-75, 937) followed by transportation and storage sector (NACE 49-53, 776) (Table 3).
The number of part-timers who also held a full-time job amounted to 38,541 up by 10.9 per cent, when compared to the corresponding month in 2021. Employed persons whose part-time job was their primary occupation totalled 35,844 up by 5.9 per cent when compared to the same month in 2021 (Table 4).
