Statistics on transport-related contraventions, public transport, driving licences and vehicle testing are also provided amongst other statistics. The section concludes with estimates of distance travelled by motor vehicles in the Maltese Islands.

2. A driver of a vehicle can be given different contraventions at one time for the same infringement (e.g. Driving while using a mobile phone is punishable with two contraventions: “Using of mobile phone while driving” and “Driver not in complete control of vehicle”.)
